The first edition of the Piano Piano Festival from 11.07.-18.07.2021 in Central Hesse offered a week of cosy listening pleasure around the black and white keys.
The new Piano Piano Festival opened on 11 July 2021 in the Lutheran Parish Church in Marburg. Other indoor venues were the Bezalel Synagogue Cultural Centre in Lich and the Pianohaus in Wetzlar, where a single concert was held in each case. The main programme took place on the weekend of 16.07.-18.07.2021 open air in Gießen. With the best weather and loving design, a summery ambience was created on the grounds of the church square, which appealed to every age group with its international and varied programme. In addition to established artists, regional artists such as the Jazzinitiavtive Gießen and music schools from Gießen and Lich were also represented in the programme.
Around 1,000 visitors attended the festival, which, under the motto “small but nice”, made it possible to experience culture together in Central Hesse despite the pandemic, and gave a little light-heartedness. Through various channels, visitors and artists alike gave enthusiastic feedback and expressed their gratitude. The Piano Piano Festival also received regional and national press coverage.
The festival is organised by the Förderkreis für Kultur in Mittelhessen with the help of the Mittelhessischer Kultursommer, with special thanks to the cultural offices of Gießen, Wetzlar and Marburg as well as the Kulturfonds Geißen – Wetzlar. A big thank you also goes to Pianohaus Wetzlar for providing the grand piano, as well as hr2, jazzthing and jazzthetik, who co-presented us.
