With Songs to Hold You, Kadri Voorand opens a new chapter in her music – moving from the bold, expansive sound she’s known for to one built on intimacy, warmth and presence.
Performed in duo with Mihkel Mälgand, one of Estonia’s leading bassists and her long-time collaborator, the project is now appearing on European stages, with a new studio album to be released independently in February 2026.The album reflects Kadri’s search for an emotion-driven sound and freer improvisation — more open, warm and rooted in her Estonian background. It combines new originals with a few covers sung through the same prism: simple storytelling and “heart songs” guided by feeling rather than form. Voorand uses her voice as an instrument, shaping melody and rhythm with emotional awareness that draws listeners in. Each concert unfolds as a shared experience – evocative, spontaneous and moving. A leading voice in Nordic jazz with international touring and recording credits, She now marks a turning point in both her live and recorded work. “Songs to Hold You” captures that shift – warm, welcoming, and personal.
