Florian Webers new quartet with an interesting Line-Up

German pianist Florian Weber has been one of the defining voices of European jazz for years. With his new Florian Weber Quartet, he is opening another exciting chapter in his musical journey. Together with saxophonist Anna-Lena Schnabel (saxophone & flute), bassist Michel Benita (bass), and drummer Jeff Ballard (drums), Weber creates a sound universe between composition and improvisation—finely balanced, lively, and always open to new ideas.
Florian Weber has composed new pieces especially for this project, tailored to the individual timbres of the musicians. The compositions do not serve as rigid structures, but as starting points for joint sound exploration. The focus is on collective improvisation – listening, reacting, and merging into a shared musical expression.
The result is music full of transparency and depth: floating, rhythmically complex, yet always poetic and spontaneous. Each performance by the quartet becomes a journey of discovery in which composition and freedom are in balance.
